Interested piano teachers are encouraged to enter their advanced students in this event. This is a wonderful performance opportunity for your students.

RULES & REGULATIONS:
• PREVIOUS 1st PLACE WINNERS: May not enter the same division in the Chopin Youth Piano Competition.
• ELIGIBILITY: Open to all non-professional pianists up through the age of 18.
• LENGTH OF PERFORMANCE: Selected piece should preferably not exceed 10 minutes in length.
• PERFORM ANY (1) ONE ORIGINAL COMPOSITION written by Frederic Chopin. Arrangements are not allowed!
• Select any Ballade, Etude, Impromptu, Mazurka, Nocturne, Polonaise, Prelude, Sonata (one movement), Waltz, etc.
• Selected piece must be performed completely from memory, in its entirety on competition day. Please keep in mind that the audition piece used for your submission and consideration must be the same piece that will be performed on competition day, should said applicant be chosen as a finalist. There will be no exceptions made.
• PRELIMINARY AUDITION (AUDIO/VHS/DVD or CD): All applicants are required to submit an audition recording of their selected competition piece. Submit an audio/video recording in CD/DVD format (CD-R, DVD-R, DVD+R, etc.). Recordings submitted for audition, may be done at home or in a studio and do not need to be professionally recorded. PLEASE NOTE: Any audition submissions which are received damaged due to shipping or are of poor audio quality will be automatically disqualified from consideration. Please make sure to review your recording before submitting your application. It is highly recommended to mail your items in a padded envelope for added
security and to avoid damage. All submissions become property of the (CYPC) Chopin Youth Piano Competition and will not be returned.
• INCLUDE A COLOR PHOTO: A school/graduation photo is highly recommended. Photos may also be submitted via email or on disk (JPEG format). Photo submitted must be a minimum wallet size, preferably no larger than 4” x 6” and do not need to be professional.
PLEASE NOTE: Photos will not be returned and become property of CYPC.
• APPLICATION DEADLINE: Entries must be postmarked on or before MAY 15, 2013.
• APPLICATION FEE: Send this completed registration form along with a non-refundable application fee of $ 20.00 made payable to: POLISH FEST
• PLEASE NOTE: Coolers, beverages and/or food items are strictly prohibited from being brought onto the festival grounds and any such items must be kept in your car. We ask that you kindly abide by this festival regulation.
• CYPC WINNERS: Competition winners may be asked to participate during various performance opportunities throughout the year. Such events may include, but are not limited to the following: (i.e. Encore Performance at the Polish Center of Wisconsin – mid July/August, Polanki College Achievement Awards Program – late April). Please keep in mind that most performance events are typically scheduled for early Sunday afternoons.
Only finalists will be notified via telephone and/or email on or about JUNE 2, 2013. Finalists will each receive an information packet containing a confirmation letter with more specific details about the Chopin Youth Piano Competition. This packet will include the following: An itinerary, directions, (2) complimentary admission tickets to Polish Fest and (1) parking pass for a designated parking lot at Polish Fest.
